How it plays

Three things, and you know the whole game.

Roll the die

Tap the die and it gives you a number from one to six. Your piece walks that many squares along the board.

Climb, or slide

Stop at the foot of a ladder and you climb it. Stop on a snake's mouth and you slide all the way back down. That is the whole drama.

Reach the end first

The first piece to land on the last square wins. Most games are done in about ten minutes, so there is always time for one more.

Fair dice

Nobody can change the dice while you play. Not even us.

A dice game is only fun if the dice are honest, and you should not have to take our word for it. So we do it in the open.

Before each day starts we publish a fingerprint of the numbers the game will use that day. It gives nothing away — you cannot read the numbers out of it — but it is fixed, and we cannot change it afterwards.

When the day is over we publish the numbers themselves. Anyone can put them through the same fingerprint machine and see that the answer matches what we posted the day before. If we had swapped a single roll, it would not.
